My Path to Cohearence

Hi, I’m Jaymes!

For more than eight years, I worked as a therapist, supporting people through life's challenges with compassion, curiosity, and care. Therapy has had a profound impact on my own life, and I continue to believe deeply in its value. It can be an incredible space for healing, growth, and self-understanding.

I'm also a transgender man.

Those two parts of my life—my professional background and my personal journey—are what shaped Cohearence.

When I came out as transgender, I wasn't the only one experiencing a transition. My family was too.

Like many families, we suddenly found ourselves navigating unfamiliar territory. There were new emotions, difficult conversations, and uncertainty about what our relationships might look like moving forward. Some members of my family chose to stay in the discomfort because our relationship mattered more than certainty or the beliefs they had once held. Others chose distance instead.

Watching those different paths unfold taught me something important:

Uncertainty doesn't determine the future of a relationship.

The choices we make within that uncertainty do.

Relationships aren't built by having all the right answers, by pretending everything is ok when it’s not, or by brushing things under the rug. They're built when we're willing to be honest, stay present, remain curious, and keep choosing one another, even when it's uncomfortable.

That belief became the foundation of Cohearence.

I believe relationships grow when we choose to HEAR.

In March 2026, I moved from Washington to California expecting to continue my work as a therapist. Instead, I encountered many roadblocks trying to transfer my license. At first, I was determined to make it work. But eventually, the resistance forced me to ask a question I had been avoiding:

Was I fighting for something I truly wanted, or for something I felt I was supposed to want?

The answer didn’t surprise me. I knew it deep down, but part of me didn’t want it to be true because it felt too big.

I had outgrown the role of a traditional therapist. I wanted the freedom to create something that reached beyond state lines. A place where transgender individuals and their families could find education, compassionate support, and honest conversations without every interaction needing to fit within the framework of diagnosis or treatment.

Whether I'm working with a transgender individual exploring their identity or a parent trying to understand their child, my approach is the same. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel seen, respected, and gently challenged. I ask thoughtful questions, notice patterns that are often difficult to see from the inside, and create a space where honesty and curiosity can exist alongside uncertainty.

My hope is that Cohearence becomes a place where difficult conversations feel a little less overwhelming, understanding feels a little more possible, and relationships have the opportunity to grow stronger through change rather than despite it.

I'm grateful you're here.

A little about me…

I’ve been told I have golden retriever energy, but I’m pretty sure that’s just because I’m a golden daddy and we kind of look alike.

In reality, I’m calm, steady, laid-back, and reflective. I tend to thrive in one-on-one conversations, small groups, and anything that goes a little deeper than surface level. I like people, I just don’t need a room full of them to have a good time.

I have a daily goal of creating and nourishing the body and life I actually want to embody—physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Movement and meditation are two of the biggest ways I stay connected to myself and aligned with the life I’m creating.

I love snowboarding, running and walking with my dog, playing pretty much any sport you put in front of me, finding views in nature that take my breath away, cooking delicious food, creating art, woodworking, playing guitar, and writing poetry just for me. I’m a big-time animal and nature lover, and I hike several times a week simply because I feel better when I’m among the trees.

I’m Reiki I & II certified, a believer in purpose, and someone who trusts that everything happens for a reason…even when it hurts. I think each of us comes into this world with something uniquely ours to remember, and that authentic living is one of the ways we find our way back to it.
